Default angle of satellite's signal to earth's surface?

I'm told the satellite's signal, as it points at the earth, has an approximate angle of about 70 to 80 degrees, looking to the South from horizontal (I'm in Arizona, 85929). I'm looking for confirmation if this is about the angle of that signal.

This is important to me as I set up my dish equipment. For knowing if this is close to the angle of the satellite's contact, it allows me to find that open spot through the trees that might allow my equipment's view of the satellite. (I'm RV'ing)

Please don't confuse this angle with the Azimuth, Elevation and Skew angles that the Dish hardware settings involve. For, as I find that opening in the trees to see the satellite, my dish equipment would naturally be set for these particular required settings.

Try looking here for your answer.................

Google is your friend.

http://www.satcruiser.com/dish_installation.htm

The (2) mayor items you need to make sure of are..................

(1) "CLEAR" line of sight.
(2) A perfectly "PLUMB" pole to mount to.

Hi Muggles,

I went to the suggested website and read the entire set up procedure. It is a good description; however, when trying to find that spot on the ground where the signal is in area of the dish equipment (getting out from behind the trees, etc.), I believe I'm still looking for angle of the signal path from the satellite as the signal comes down from the sky.

The website gives a good description of lining up the equipment in an absolutely clear sky view to the South. But I'm trying to find the hole in the trees where I'll have a shot at lining up.

Remember RV'ing means there can be lots of tall trees. Maybe I'm on the wrong track, but it seems I need to get in the general area of the ground to see through the trees at the sat. To do otherwise, I'll be most apt to find my position hitting a tree. Also, my RV'ing is really on a stationary mobile home and trying to find the right location on my facia board. I've tried to make my wording clear, but it is not easy to describe what I'm looking for. The angle number I'm looking for may be a number that only an installer of dish equipment would know about.

A DirecTV sales repr said the angle is about 80 degrees. I was hoping to confirm or deny that information as valid for Dish Network satellites.

it should be very easy ... get the zip code & put it in the recvr... it will tell you the dish setup.... 80 is very high in the sky ... in new orleans they are between 55 & 43 or so
